Join us on this date when our special guest will be Jim Mead!

Mead, who resides in Jeffersonville, is now in his 8th year as a volunteer at the Falls of the Ohio and in 2015, he was named Volunteer of the Year!

Born and raised in Salem, IN, Mead became an Eagle Scout and subsequently graduated from the University of Evansville.  For 37 years, he worked as a local highway contractor, for 29 years as a mission and check pilot in the Indiana Wing of the Civil Air Patrol and 5 years as a captain and pilot in the U.S. Air Force (C-130 Cargo Planes).  Last, but not least, he and his lovely spouse, Barb Winnett, have been happily married for 50 years!

In his presentation, Mead will explain how the Ohio River was formed and where our fossils came from as well as give an overview of the area, including floods, bridges, and dams.  He will also provide a brief tour of the Interpretive Center and fossil "hike" of approximately 15 different kinds found in the fossil beds.  In addition, Mead will bring actual fossils with him that participants can pick up and examine.

Please don't miss this exciting program!
